The Story

The centipede was a sacred animal to our ancestors. It was believed to be a messenger of the anito (ancestral spirits), or an animal form of the spirits themselves. Coming across a centipede in your path could be seen as an omen, warning you whether or not to continue on in your journey.

The centipede motif here is interpreted as a pair of arrows on the Kaya Cuff, reminding us that those who came before us continue to guide us on our journey through life.
